§ 2. Mr. P. Browneasked the Minister of Labour if he will give the percentage unemployment figures in the Bideford-Torrington area at 15th November, 1959, and at 15th November, 1960, respectively, and also the national average unemployment figures for the same dates.
§ Mr. Hare3.8 per cent. at 16th November, 1959, and 3.1 per cent. at 14th November, 1960, compared with 2 per cent. and 1.6 per cent. respectively for Great Britain.
§ Mr. BrowneWill the Minister confirm that the criterion for inclusion for grant aid under the new Local Employment Act in places of high seasonal unemployment is still the yearly average of 4 per cent.?
§ Mr. HareI should like notice of that supplementary question. I think my hon. Friend has been in touch with my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade, who has told him he will bring the Bideford and Torrington area to the notice of suitable industrialists seeking new locations, subject to the claims of the development districts.
