HC Deb 03 May 1960 vol 622 c867
17. Mr. Gourlay

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress has been made in the preparation of the schedules for the second extension of Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

Mr. T. G. D. Galbraith

The regional hospital board is meeting my right hon. Friend's Department later this week to discuss the progress of this project, and he will write to the hon. Member after that meeting.

Mr. Gourlay

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that this is further evidence of the dismal failure of the Government's record in hospital building, which is only equivalent to its failure in providing houses in Scotland? Will he give us an assurance that he will bring the utmost pressure to bear on the regional board to expedite the planning and building of this extension, which the Secretary of State promised would be started in 1961?

Mr. Galbraith

It is because my right hon. Friend is anxious to progress with this matter that the meeting has been arranged.
