§ 19. Mr. Manuelasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what global sum was allocated to each of the regional hospital boards for 1960–61; and how these sums compare with the estimates asked for by each of the regional hospital boards.
§ Mr. T. G. D. GalbraithSums totalling just over £50 million have been allocated to regional hospital boards for revenue expenditure in 1960–61, equal to about 99 per cent. of the estimates submitted. I shall with permission, circulate individual figures in the OFFICIAL REPORT.
§ Mr. ManuelIs the hon. Gentleman certain that the hospital boards, in the global sums allocated to them, are not being cramped in their work? When I was a member of a regional hospital board my experience was that it was cramped very much in its work by the estimates being severely cut down each year.
§ Mr. GalbraithTo be given 99 per cent. of the estimate is not bad going.
