HC Deb 03 May 1960 vol 622 cc882-3
43. Mr. Teeling

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider recommending to Her Majesty the Queen that there should be a national day of prayer before the Summit talks; and whether he will recommend to the Commonwealth Premiers assembled in London that they too might make such a request so that it could be a Commonwealth day of prayer.

Mr. Amory

I have been asked to reply.

My right hon. Friend believes that this is a matter which is best left to the Church authorities. In fact, we understand that the World Council of Churches has already issued an appeal for special prayers on Sunday. 15th May.
