16. Mr. Boyden

asked the Minister of Education if, in view of the heavy demands which girls' independent schools are making on the short supply of teachers, and the unsatisfactory arrangements for sixth form courses in many of these schools, he will take some immediate action to remedy this situation.

Sir D. Eccles

The best way to help these schools is to increase the supply of teachers, and that I am doing.

Mr. Boyden

Would it not be helpful to parents who might be sending their children to these schools for the Minister to publish a list of them so that they know where the sixth forms are deficient?

A list of independent schools can be obtained if the hon. Member wishes.

Mr. Boyden

I asked that a list should be published where sixth forms are deficient, in accordance with the terms of the Crowther Report.
