HC Deb 21 March 1960 vol 620 c19
31. Mr. Chetwynd

asked the Minister of Aviation whether he will now announce his decision in respect of outstanding applications for low fares by the Air Corporations and independent operators.

The Minister of Aviation (Mr. Duncan Sandys)

I will make an announcement as soon as possible.

Mr. Chetwynd

Is the Minister aware that these applications have now been outstanding for many months and that it is high time that a decision was made on them? Can he say whether the decision will be made in time to enable the operators to put these fares in force for this summer?

Mr. Sandys

As I think the hon. Gentleman knows, I am as anxious as he is to clear up this matter, but before making an announcement I have to consult certain colonial and Commonwealth authorities on the conclusions that have just been reached at the I.A.T.A. meeting in Paris.
