asked the Minister of Transport whether, following the publication of the Guillebaud Report, he is now in a position to make a statement on the future financial and administrative organisation of the British Transport Commission.

Mr. Marples

A statement will be made very shortly.

Mr. Wilson

While thanking my right hon. Friend for that reply, may I say that I am sure he will appreciate that there is so much cross-talk on this matter that it is urgently necessary for a Government statement to be made at an early date?

Mr. Marples

I can assure my hon. Friend that it will be made at a very early date.
