HC Deb 23 June 1960 vol 625 cc717-8
The Lord Advocate

I beg to move, in page 9, line 34. to leave out "accused" and to insert: person to whom notice has been given. This and the following two Amendments are drafting Amendments to meet a point made in Committee. It was thought, quite rightly, that "accused" was rather an offensive word, and that another phrase should be found; and we have now done so.

Amendment agreed to.

Further Amendments made: In page 9, line 39, leave out "accused" and insert: person to whom notice has been given.

In line 43, leave out "the accused" and insert "that person".

In line 44, leave out "in the opinion of the court".—[The Lord Advocate.]
