HC Deb 01 June 1960 vol 624 cc1504-92

Order for consideration, as amended, (in the Standing Committee) read.

6.8 p.m.

The Minister of Transport (Mr. Ernest Marples)

I beg to move, That the Bill be recommitted to a Committee of the whole House in respect of the Amendment to Clause 12, page 19, line 17, standing on the Notice Paper in the name of Mr. Marples. The reason for this Motion is that the Amendment which has been tabled at the suggestion of the Association of Municipal Corporations—to which I am very grateful—gives new or additional charging powers to local authorities, who have a very good point here. That Amendment cannot be considered on Report. According to our Standing Orders, it can be considered only in Committee. I therefore hope that the House will accept the Motion.

Question put and agreed to.

Bill immediately considered in Committee.
