Lords Amendment: In page 6, line 20, at end insert: (3) In paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of section seven, and in paragraph (d) of subsection (1) of section sixteen, of the Betting and Lotteries Act, 1934 (which empower the licensing authority to refuse to grant or, as the case may be, to revoke a licence in respect of any track on the ground of a conviction of the applicant for or holder of the licence, or, where the applicant or holder is a corporate body, any director or the manager thereof, for an offence under Part I of that Act) the reference to an offence under that Part of that Act shall be construed as including a reference to any offence under this section.

I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.

This is a very technical Amendment designed to facilitate the consolidation of the betting and gaming laws. I shall explain it if any hon. Member is in any doubt about it, but I assure the House that it is purely a drafting point

I hope that we may have some assurance that there will be consolidation at an early stage.
