HC Deb 12 July 1960 vol 626 cc1164-5
28. Mr. Hannan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will state the numbers of accidents which took place in the home for each of the past two years, at any convenient date.

Mr. Maclay

Numbers of accidents in the home are not available but deaths from such accidents in the years 1958 and 1959 were 1,108 and 1,088 respectively.

Mr. Hannan

Does the right hon. Gentleman appreciate that these numbers are twice the total of deaths which occur as a result of accidents caused by cars on the road? Can he say whether it is his intention to publish the results of the research project recently carried out in this matter?

Mr. Maclay

I shall have to examine whether we can publish the full report. I will inform the hon. Member.
