§ 16. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Minister of Aviation if he is aware of the inconvenience and loss to trade, business and social life caused by the inadequate air services between Aberdeen, Orkney, Shetland and the Channel Islands, particularly during the summer holiday season; and if he will investigate the cause and take steps to rectify it.
§ Mr. RipponThe provision of any additional services is a matter for the operators.
§ Mr. HughesThe Minister is getting away with murder when he says that. Does he not remember the complaints that have been made to him about the differences between him and the operators with regard to Sunday services? Will he once again look into these matters and examine the complaints?
§ Mr. RipponI remember those differences very well and have nothing to add to the answers which have already been given about them.
§ Mr. ChetwyndHave there been any applications from independent operators to put on these services?
§ Mr. RipponI am not aware of any such applications.
