§ 47. Mr. Watkinsasked the Postmaster-General what progress has been made in the provision of a satellite station for television and sound broadcasting in mid-Wales; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BevinsThe technical details of this station have been agreed and the equipment ordered. When the legal formalities in regard to the site are con 372 cluded, the B.B.C. can start construction. It is too early for the Corporation to say when the station will open.
§ Mr. WatkinsDoes the right hon. Gentleman realise that he, or his predecessor, gave that information about six months ago? Will he expedite matters in his own Department, since I am satisfied with what the B.B.C. itself is doing?
§ Mr. BevinsI am satisfied that the B.B.C. is pushing on with this as rapidly as it can. I will keep in touch with the B.B.C. and keep the hon. Gentleman informed.
