§ 39. Mr. Willisasked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty how many work studies have been carried out at his Department's office; and what were the resulting savings in manpower and money.
§ Mr. C. Ian Orr-EwingWork study in a headquarters office takes the form of organisation and method study. The Admiralty have for nearly 20 years now had an O. and M. Branch, which has 1283 done a great deal in increasing efficiency. It is not possible to calculate the saving in manpower and money.
§ Mr. WillisDo we understand from that answer that there is to be no reduction in this very swollen staff at the Admiralty?
§ Mr. Orr-EwingWe are by no means complacent about this. The hon. Gentleman may have noticed that there is a Sub-Committee of the Select Committee on Estimates at present investigating Vote 12, the Admiralty Office.
