HC Deb 17 February 1960 vol 617 cc1262-3
14. Mr. P. Noel-Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether Her Majesty's Government will join the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

I am afraid that I cannot yet add to what my hon. Friend told the right hon. Gentleman last month, namely, that the matter is under consideration.

Mr. Noel-Baker

Since the Committee has up to date sent overseas more than 400,000 refugees, would it not be very appropriate for the Government to join during World Refugee Year?

Mr. Lloyd

That is certainly a consideration not absent from my mind.
