§ 6. Mr. Fernyhoughasked the Minister of Defence if he will take steps to amend the regulations governing National Service grants in order that National Service men who have to meet a court order in respect of an affiliation case may make a claim.

The Air Ministry told me that the National Service grant would not be available for this purpose, and that meant that the unmarried mother was in much greater difficulty than she would have been if the grant had been made?
§ Mr. WatkinsonI am not sure which Service was involved. There is, however, the fact that the National Service man must also make a contribution if there is a court order. I am prepared to make sure that this individual case has been properly examined.
