I hope to publish my proposals as a White Paper early in January.

While we look forward to the White Paper with interest, may I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman is aware that he promised this before Christmas. Will the White Paper cover compulsory day release for those who require it?

Sir D. Eccles

No, the White Paper will not cover that subject.

Mrs. White

Has the right hon. Gentleman any further statement to make on that subject?
