§ 11. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action he has now taken to remove the misunderstandings of the German Federal Government regarding the policy of Her Majesty's Government to aspects of European Economic Community political policy; and what further conversations have been or will be held between these governments in respect of the relationship between the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation and the European Free Trade Association.
§ Mr. ProfumoHer Majesty's Ambassador in Bonn saw Herr von Brentano on 2nd April and, on my right hon. and learned Friend's instructions, drew attention to the statement which my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister made to the House on the previous day. I hope that this statement has cleared up any misunderstandings in the Federal Republic and elsewhere which may have been caused by the Press reports of my right hon. Friend's talks in Washington. As regards the second part of the Question, I would refer the right hon. Gentleman to the reply which my hon. Friend gave on 11th April to the hon. Member for Stroud (Mr. Kershaw).
§ Mr. SorensenMay I ask the Minister whether a public statement is likely to be made in order to remove misunderstandings on this matter, misunderstandings that have not been confined to the German Federal Government?
§ Mr. ProfumoThere will be no further public statement than that which my right hon. Friend made to the House.
