§ 36. Mr. Willisasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proposals he has for expanding the programme of public works, other than roads, in Scotland to assist in providing employment.
§ Mr. MaclayThe programme of works in Scotland for which I am responsible is already expanding and I expect that this year it will continue to expand.
§ Mr. WillisOnce again this is dodging the issue. Is not the right hon. Gentleman aware that now that we have nearly 100,000 unemployed he ought to be expanding our housing programme, our forestry programme, our road programme, and all the things that would help to reduce that number?
§ Mr. MaclayI appreciate the hon. Gentleman's point, but I have pointed out that the programme is expanding.
