asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will indicate the total number of new students enrolled at the central institutions in Scotland for the sessions 1957–58 and 1958–59.

As the Answer consists of a table of figures, I shall, with permission, circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

For the reasons I have explained to the hon. Member in writing the figures supersede those given in my Answers on 11th November, 1957, and 23rd February, 1960, for the respective sessions.

I take it that the right hon. Gentleman has taken steps to ensure that in future the correct information is provided?

Yes. We have asked all the institutions concerned to prepare their figures in rather a different way in future.
