HC Deb 07 April 1960 vol 621 c553
27. Mr. W. Hamilton

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many new jobs are in prospect in the immediate future in the Central West Fife area.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (Mr. John Rodgers)

It is estimated that about 450 new jobs will become available in the area over the next few months.

Mr. Hamilton

Can the hon. Gentleman be more specific and say exactly where these jobs will be? Is it a net figure taking into account the steady run-down of the mining industry?

Mr. Rodgers

It is not possible at the moment to give the names of the firms. At the moment, they are confidential. These are 450 new jobs that will be provided.
