HC Deb 05 April 1960 vol 621 cc186-7
31. Mr. Fisher

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if British Honduras and British Guiana were represented at the meeting of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America at Santiago on 28th and 29th March.

Mr. Alport

No, Sir. British Guiana was elected an associate member at this meeting but was unable to attend on this occasion.

Mr. Fisher

As the West Indian Federation was itself represented on this occasion, would it not be appropriate for the mainland territory of British Honduras, not a member of the Federation, also to apply for associate membership of this Commission?

Mr. Alport

That is a matter for the Government of British Honduras. I understand that it is now being considered.
