HC Deb 30 November 1959 vol 614 c862
26. Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Minister of Aviation, as representing the Minister for Science, what arrangements he has made with the Governments of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the United States of America for the receipt of detailed technical and scientific information obtained from their space satellites; and through which organisations is such information transmitted.

Mr. Sandys

In addition to our close contacts with the United States there is a regular exchange of information on this subject between scientists through various channels, including the three "World Data Centres" established after the International Geophysical Year. One of these is in the United States, one in the Soviet Union, and one in Britain.

Mr. Gresham Cooke

Does that imply that information of a scientific nature is coming through freely both from Russia and the United States?

Mr. Sandys

Yes, Sir.
