asked the Minister of Aviation whether any decision has yet been reached about the development of supersonic aircraft.

The P.1 Lightning fighter, which flies level at Mach 2, will shortly be coming into service. An all-steel research aircraft, capable of much higher supersonic speeds, should be flying next year. The problem of developing supersonic civil aircraft is being actively studied.
