§ 29. Mr. Fitchasked the Minister of Power what action the Government proposes to take about the recommendation contained in the Robson Report on Coal Distribution Costs in Great Britain about the need for larger coal depots and the mechanical handling of coal.
§ Mr. WoodThe Government have consulted those concerned. Action depends on agreement between a number of separate commercial interests, which are in touch with each other and aware of each other's problems. It would not he appropriate for me to interfere, but if my help is asked for at any time, I will gladly do what I can.
§ Mr. FitchIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that in some of our large cities last winter coal distribution practically broke down? Does he not agree that coal distribution by larger units on a zoning basis would be more efficient?
§ Mr. WoodI think I had better not express any opinion on the merits of this matter. I have seen the conclusions of the Robson Report, and I am entirely ready to try to assist an advance of this kind, if an advance is desired.
