HC Deb 19 November 1959 vol 613 cc1319-20
10. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Education, in view of the statement made at the Kent County Council Education Committee at Maidstone on Monday 26th October that, at a school in Kent, only one text book is available for every three pupils, if he will make inquiries with a view to the situation being remedied as soon as possible.

Sir D. Eccles

I am informed that the statement quoted is not accurate. The headmaster said, I understand, that he had not enough suitable books to set homework for all pupils capable of doing it.

Mr. Dodds

Does the right hon. Gentleman realise that I am aware of the facts, and that the purpose of putting this Question on the Order Paper was to get the matter put right? It is being put right, but, nevertheless, I thank him for his interest.
