HC Deb 03 November 1959 vol 612 cc830-1
6. Mr. Lipton

asked the President of the Board of Trade when he expects to receive the report of Mr. Faulks, Q.C., on some recent take-over bids.

Mr. Maudling

Mr. Faulks, Q.C., was appointed to investigate the affairs of J. H. Jasper and Co., Limited, on 25th September. He has a great deal of information to sift and more is still coming in. I know that Mr. Faulks will submit his report as soon as he possibly can.

Mr. Lipton

Will the right hon. Gentleman say whether he intends to publish the report or send it to the Director of Public Prosecutions or refer it to another committee of inquiry? Is he aware that this is a problem which must be tackled with urgency and not with the long-drawn-out, languid approach he has manifested in reply to previous Questions today?

Mr. Maudling

I am sure it must be tackled with urgency, but we must get the report first.
