HC Deb 02 November 1959 vol 612 cc663-4
36. Lady Tweedsmuir

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he expects to receive the report of the Fleck Committee.

Mr. John Hare

The chairman of the Committee has informed me that its consideration of the many and complex problems involved is not yet complete and that he cannot yet say when the Committee will be in a position to report.

Lady Tweedsmuir

Are we likely to have an interim report? Further, are we likely to have the report before the next World Conference on the Law of the Sea, and will such negotiations be taken into account?

Mr. Hare

It is really for the Committee to decide whether there should be an interim report. It may well decide that it would wish to consider the implications of what may happen at the Second World Conference on the Law of the Sea before making a full report.
