§ 23. Mr. Knox Cunninghamasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will state the result of the study undertaken jointly by his Department and that of the Secretary of State for Air into the future use of the Royal Air Force station at Aldergrove, County Antrim; and whether he will make a statement as to the future of Belfast Airport.
§ Mr. HayMy right hon. Friend expects to receive the report on the study very shortly. I am not therefore in a position to make a statement today.
§ Mr. Knox CunninghamCould my hon. Friend say, when work is started to transfer Belfast Airport to Alder-grove, how long it will take? Will he bear very seriously in mind the fear among the present employees of any redundancy arising out of such transfer?
§ Mr. HayYes. If we do decide, in the light of this report, to develop Alder-grove in place of Nutt's Corner it should take, I think, about two to three years before it can be completed. I will certainly keep in mind the point which my 1232 hon. and learned Friend made about employment, about which he asked a Question some time ago.
