HC Deb 06 May 1959 vol 605 c380
26. Mr. Owen

asked the Postmaster-General what is now holding up plans for the modernisation of the post office at Ashington, Northumberland; and whether he will make a statement.

The Assistant Postmaster-General (Mr. Kenneth Thompson)

This is still unfortunately held up because it has not been possible to reach agreement with the landlord on the terms on which reconstruction of the premises should proceed. Everything possible is being done to conclude an agreement and to avoid further delay. I will continue to keep the hon. Member in touch with developments.
