asked the Postmaster-General when he is going to change the personnel of the Independent Television Authority.

Under paragraph 7 (1) of the First Schedule of the Television Act this is entirely a matter for the Independent Television Authority.

In view of the many criticisms made inside and outside the House of the operation of the Act by the Independent Television Authority. and the complete disregard of the Act by the programme companies, does not the hon. Gentleman think it about time something was done? If he does not intend to change the personnel of the Authority, what does he intend to do to get the Act complied with?

The personnel of the Authority has nothing whatever to do with my right hon. Friend. That is a matter for the Authority itself.
