HC Deb 24 March 1959 vol 602 c1103
15. Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is now in a position to announce his decision with regard to Eyemouth Harbour.

The Joint Under-Secretary of State for Scotland (Lord John Hope)

No, Sir, not yet. Representatives of the harbour trustees have discussed their proposals with officials of my right hon. Friend's Department and have undertaken to consider whether a less costly scheme would meet the needs of the harbour.

Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

While thanking my noble Friend for that reply, may I ask him to bear in mind that it is difficult to see how a scheme very much smaller than the £300,000 scheme would meet the needs of the situation?
