HC Deb 19 March 1959 vol 602 c619
32. Miss Vickers

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer to what extent established and non-established dockyard employees will be contracted out of the Government's proposed graded pension scheme; and what will be the position in regard to pension rights already acquired.

The Financial Secretary to the Treasury (Mr. J. E. S. Simon)

Detailed study and consultation with staff representatives will be needed before it can be decided how Admiralty dockyard employees, and all other civil servants, will be affected by the proposals in the National Insurance Bill.

Miss Vickers

Can my hon. and learned Friend give an assurance that the present establishment of over 8,000 employees in the dockyard will not have their pension in any way affected?

Mr. Simon

I do not think I ought to make any statement on this subject pending consultations and discussions between the staff side and the official side.
