§ 8. Mr. Russellasked the Postmaster-General if he will introduce cheaper night-rate calls into the overseas telephone service, especially with Commonwealth countries, as is done in the service with Canada.
§ Mr. K. ThompsonThe introduction of cheap night-rates requires the agreement of the Administration operating the other end of the service. Since the war most Administrations have not shown themselves in favour of cheap rates. The time now seems ripe for a review of the 382 position and I will consider what approach can usefully be made, particularly to the other countries of the Commonwealth.
