§ 8. Mr. Stracheyasked the Secretary of State for War how many of the new streamlined divisional headquarters are located with the British Army of the Rhine.
§ Mr. SoamesThree, Sir.
§ Mr. StracheyIf the right hon. Gentleman will not tell us the number of brigade groups in Germany, out of exaggerated deference to security, as I should have thought, can he say whether these three divisional headquarters now control brigade groups which he considers equal to the four divisions that we are pledged to maintain in Germany?
§ Mr. SoamesThere has been considerable reorganisation and new thinking not only in tie British Army but in the armies 1230 of all our Western Allies on the size and scope of divisions and, as the right hon. Gentleman knows, the Army in Germany is organised in terms of brigade groups now.
