§ 39. Sir A. Hurdasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what progress has been made in the drafting of a new international wheat agreement at the United Nations Conference at Geneva; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. GodberThe Conference is now in its final stages and is expected to end tomorrow. The negotiations have so far gone satisfactorily and there is a good chance that the outcome will be a new International Wheat Agreement to which the United Kingdom can adhere.
§ Mr. WilleyCan the hon. Gentleman say when he expects to be able to make a statement? Tomorrow?
§ Mr. GodberI hope the results will be announced tomorrow, but, as I have indicated, the matter is not yet completely finalised. There are sometimes hitches, so I could not give a definite undertaking.
