HC Deb 24 June 1959 vol 607 cc1193-4
59. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he will consider leasing the Royal Naval Aircraft Repair Yard at Donibristle to a suitable applicant.

The Civil Lord of the Admiralty (Mr. T. G. D. Galbraith)

My noble Friend would prefer to dispose of the establishment by sale, but he is prepared to consider offers to lease the Aircraft Repair Yard, provided it were a long lease.

Mr. Hamilton

I think that that represents an advance in the point of view of the Admiralty. Will the Civil Lord make an interim statement on the developments which have possibly taken place during the last week or fortnight?

Mr. Galbraith

No, I am afraid that I have nothing to add to that. We have had several inquiries which we are looking into at the moment.
