§ Mr. NugentThese regulations have been in force for less than a month and it is too early for us to make a further statement. First reports would seem to indicate that the system will make for greater safety and improved traffic flow.
§ Mr. JegerHas the hon. Gentleman any information about the number of prosecutions which have taken place in infringement of the regulations up to now?
§ Mr. NugentI have no information on that as yet.
§ Mr. Ernest DaviesDoes the hon. Gentleman appreciate the need for being reasonably sparing in the use of these white lines, since there is a danger that there will not be uniformity in their use and that if they are used too much and for different hazards, and so on, they will not be nearly as effective?
§ Mr. NugentYes, I quite accept the hon. Gentleman's point. Our instructions are that they should not be put down when there is any doubt, or they will otherwise lose their value.
