§ 34. Mr. Birchasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will take steps to maintain and publish up-to-date figures of the debts of local authorities, showing what proportion of them mature within seven days, six months, one year and five years, respectively.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr. Derick Heathcoat Amory)A survey was recently made by the Treasury 802 of the composition and term of local authority loan debt in the early part of the years 1955 and 1958. I am considering the repetition of this survey, perhaps on a regular basis, and the form in which the results might be published.
