HC Deb 03 June 1959 vol 606 cc182-3
12. Mr. Grimond

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what use is to be made of the ground cleared below the new fly-over at Gunnersbury.

Mr. Watkinson

An enlarged roundabout is necessary at this point. The layout and planting of the whole site are being considered by the Advisory Committee on the Landscape Treatment of Trunk Roads, which was consulted at an early stage.

Mr. Grimond

While a garden may be very nice indeed, may I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether, bearing in mind earlier Questions about the increase in traffic, he would consider whether this space should be used either for parking or garaging?

Mr. Watkinson

I do not think the hon. Member has studied the traffic problem at this point. There is no intention of making a garden, but for strict technical reasons the site will be laid out as a green open space and not as a parking place.
