HC Deb 03 June 1959 vol 606 cc165-6
2. Mrs. Castle

asked the Secretary of State for Air why the ration money for the Royal Air Force in Aden has been reduced from 11s. 10d. per day to 10s. 8d.

Mr. Ward

The reduction has now been cancelled. The rates are normally reviewed at intervals of six months and we are at present considering with the other Departments concerned what rates should apply from 1st July onwards.

Mrs. Castle

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that I received a letter from a constituent in Aden saying that this decrease came in on 1st April? Can the right hon. Gentleman say, therefore, whether if this ration allowance was wrongfully reduced, thus placing a financial burden on families living out, some adjustment will now be made for that period?

Mr. Ward

Yes, certainly. The cut will be restored from the day on which it was imposed.
