HC Deb 03 June 1959 vol 606 c178
30. Sir L. Heald

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he is now in a position to announce the measures he intends to take for safeguarding the rights of pilots in connection with the investigation of air accidents.

Mr. Watkinson

I propose to set up an independent Committee to examine this and various other problems of air safety.

It is now some ten years since the Newton Committee made a most valuable Report of this kind, and I think that it is time that its investigation should be repeated.

I hope to announce the composition and terms of reference of this Committee before the Summer Recess.
