asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many farmers had applied for Government grants under the Small Farmers' Assistance Scheme, and how many had been refused, up to 10th July.

Up to 10th July, 1,588 farmers had applied for grant under the Small Farmers Scheme and 248 applications had been refused.
