asked the Minister of Transport; and Civil Aviation whether he will now make a statement on his proposals relating to the construction of the Leicestershire portion of the London-Yorkshire Motorway.

Mr. Watkinson

I cannot yet add to the reply I gave to the hon. Member's Question on 13th May.

Mr. Janner

Surely the right hon. Gentleman realises that the attitude which he has adopted towards this road is preventing a considerable amount of business coming to Leicester and Leicestershire and that people in the district are becoming thoroughly upset about the fact that the road is not being constructed? When does he propose to take some step to expedite its construction?

Mr. Watkinson

The hon. Member should address his questions to the local interests and local authorities and not to me, and then he would find out why there has been a delay.

Mr. Janner

In view of the very unsatisfactory nature of that reply, I propose to raise this matter again on the Adjournment if given an opportunity to do so.
