§ 25. Mr. Wiggasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is satisfied that the School of Infantry has sufficient supplies of modern equipment to enable adequate study of modern tactical and strategic problems to be carried out; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. H. FraserYes, Sir. The most modern weapons and equipment in service are at the school's disposal. Prototypes are tested there and the school is consulted at all stages of research and development.
§ Mr. WiggWill the hon. Gentleman give the House an assurance that all members of the staff of the School of Infantry are satisfied with the equipment which is available?
§ Mr. FraserAs I see it, in this instance enough is never enough, but what is quite clear is that the staff has the best equipment that we have available. I think one of the reasons why the hon. Member is asking this Question is that he went to a demonstration the other day when a great many things on the secret list were not shown, not because he was present, but because there were many foreign attachés from beyond the Iron Curtain present.
§ Mr. WiggIn view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply, I beg to give notice that I shall raise this matter on the Adjournment.
