HC Deb 28 January 1959 vol 598 cc1053-4
26. Mr. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Air what difficulties have been encountered in the transport and housing of the several hundred United States technicians sent to Great Britain to work on Thor missile sites; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ward

The men concerned are employees of contractors responsible to the Douglas Aircraft Corporation which is in turn under contract to the United States Government. The job calls on them to move from place to place and most of them are living in caravans. I understand that difficulties over accommodation and transport have been temporary and certainly they have not delayed the work.
