HC Deb 27 January 1959 vol 598 cc856-7
2. Mr. Sparks

asked the Attorney-General how many actions for possession of premises to which the landlord and Tenant (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1958, applies have been entered in county courts in the Metropolitan police area; how the actions have been disposed of; and how many of these actions were entered in the Brentford County Court.

The Attorney-General

I am obtaining this information, and will circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT when it is received.

Mr. E. Fletcher

Is the Attorney-General aware that in a great many cases in Islington disappointingly short periods of relief have been granted by the courts—in the majority of cases, only one month—before the eviction order takes place? Is he aware that this is quite contrary to the expectations held out by the Minister when the Bill was discussed in this House?

The Attorney-General

I do not see anything about Islington in this Question.
