§ 15. Mr. Willisasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he proposes to take to meet the difficulties revealed by the Crofters Commission in the reorganisation of crofting townships.
§ Lord John HopeMy right hon. Friend has at present no proposals to make for amending the existing provisions on this subject, but he knows that the Crofters Commission is giving thought to it and he would of course be prepared to consider any proposals which it might make.
§ Mr. WillisIs the hon. Gentleman aware that it would now appear that these provisions of the Crofting Act will never be made effective? Surely, he ought to do something about it now. The difficulties have been indicated. Should he not tackle them?
§ Lord John HopeIt is for the Commission to judge, in the light of its own day-to-day experience, if and when the time is ripe for concrete proposals to be made. It may well come.
