§ 47. Mr. Hamiltonasked the President of the Board of Trade whether any inquiries have yet been made about the textile mill closed several months ago at Prinlaws, Fife.
§ Sir D. EcclesThe Board of Trade has so far received no inquiries.
§ Mr. HamiltonWill the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind that this textile mill has considerable importance and that the women who were displaced when the company went into voluntary liquidation—mainly as a result of the Government's policy—were subsequently unemployed and find it very difficult to get 1291 alternative employment? Will he have regard to that fact in bringing the factory to the notice of industrialists?
§ Sir D. EcclesYes, I will. We do not normally assist a private owner to dispose of his property, but we have made an exception in this case for the reasons the hon. Member gave.
