HC Deb 19 February 1959 vol 600 c544
60. Captain Orr

asked the President of the Board of Trade to what extent it is possible, under the present regulations, for the import quota on Dutch bulbs to be avoided by the device of importing them by way of the Irish Republic.

The President of the Board of Trade (Sir David Eccles)

The present regulations do not permit imports of Dutch bulbs in excess of the quota, and I have no evidence that these regulations are being evaded by shipment via the Irish Republic.
